It's been awhile!

I have terrible blogger etiquette! I have been trying to find more time for my fun job, but my real job often "gets in the way". Here's a little taste of what I've been up to in my rare free time.

A "Toy Story" Themed Party, Aliens and All!

My favorite part about this cake was re-creating the Toy Story logo. I always welcome the opportunity to test out my "free-hand artistry" skills, and the little aliens were so much fun to make!

Finley Grace. A Miracle Child's 1st Birthday.

I was so excited to make this ladybug themed cake to celebrate Finley's 1st birthday! The cupcake tower is a fun way to make a taller cake display, with simple service for the kids. Using different sizes of ladybugs and leaves added more dimension to the cake.

Final Thought:

Life can get so crazy and responsibilities can add up so quickly that you often forget to take time for the things you enjoy most. Don't forget to take time to do the things that make you happy, because happiness is contagious, and the world could use a lot more happiness :).

Milestones

We all celebrate milestones. Birthdays, graduations, weddings, a new baby... Any significant life change or accomplishment is something worth celebrating. And what better way to celebrate than with the people you love and care about. Here are just a few of the recent "milestone" celebrations I was able to be a part of:

The Beginning of a New Journey

The Creation:

These are cupcakes that I made for a friend's graduation party. They are chocolate and strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting, and fondant toppers. All of the little diplomas were time consuming, yet so simple to make!

The Journey:

Most people look at graduation as an ending to some of the best years of their life. While many people are "prepared" and know exactly what is next for them after they graduate, others struggle to find the perfect path for them. When I graduated from college a year ago, I had absolutely no idea what was next for me. I have always had a wide variety of interests, so I had a difficult time feeling like I had to choose just one path. But if there is one thing I could have told myself when I first began this journey, it would be to not worry so much about arriving at the end so quickly. Because all of it is a journey that is worth taking. Throughout this journey, you will learn about your limits, and what you can handle, which is often much more than you thought. You will also learn about the things you enjoy, and things you do not, which makes you grateful when you are able to do what you love.

Final Thought:

Find something that you love doing so much you would be willing to do it for free.

Open for Business!

A very wise friend recently told me that if I love baking, and want to have more opportunities to bake for others, I should start a blog. So here I am!

Baking has always been part of the joy of life for me, but I only recently stumbled upon my knack for decorating. I am not educated in the "ways of the pastry" nor would I even call myself a true "cake decorator". I am simply enthralled by the endless possibilities when it comes to baking, and want to share my journey of learning with others.

It is my hope that you might also become inspired to learn something new! Because you never know what you could be great at until you try it- and life it too short not to try :).
